A lot of Bartok's works will suffer from the [TB] block, since they are still under copyright in the US and EU -- since he died in 1945, his works will only be public domain in Europe in 2016. In the US, only those works published before 1923 are in the public domain. The Viola Concerto was one of the last works he wrote, so it was not written early enough to qualify for this.

This piece is very difficult, most students don't play this piece till the end of their first 4 years at collage and its not a piece that you need. This is a fine edition of Bartok's last work, and rings completely true to his personal Hungarian musical language. The piano arrangement of the orchestral score is not unreasonably difficult, compared with some of the composer's solo piano works, although the viola part is pretty tough. (Viola solos. Usually are - it's a difficult instrument.) But this intimate, satisfying work gives the soloist every opportunity to sing, and show off a bit too.
